Winter Lodge Campout Jan 2010

Working on up to four merit badges (a new record), our Scouts learned chemistry, engineering, aviation and a bunch of eagle required badges. Then the neighbors all got nervous as our guys shot all matter of projectiles around the Standing Stone area. The most dangerous projectile... nerf football.

Junior Leadership Training Dec 2009

After Mr. Peters taught us how to "hang out," our overnight lock-in at Climb Nashville was memorable for all our new rock climbers and two great leadership presentations by a TN state legislator and a Vietnam veteran war hero.

Carnton Battle of Franklin Luminaries 2009

Troop 8 answered the call to assist the city of Franklin in the anniversary memorial for the Battle of Franklin. Putting out 10,000 luminaries (one for each casualty in the battle) was a powerful reminder to our strong team of volunteers.

Camp Craig Campout

Meeting a pack of wild Webelos at our old summer camping site turned out to be very popular. The maturing cub scouts joined us for lashing and scout skill, fire-building competition, and ax throwing. Perhaps cleaning up and doing service at Camp Craig (like massive bonfires) will become a regular Fall Troop 8 tradition.
